- Reactor tests and post-reactor studies
The MIR.M1 reactor allows simultaneous testing of different types of fuels and materials under various conditions of power, water-chemical regimes, and coolant parameters (pressure, flow rate, temperature).
Physically, the MIR reactor is a thermal heterogeneous reactor with a moderator and reflector made of metallic beryllium. Structurally, it is a channel-type pool reactor. Such a design solution combines the main advantages of pool-type and channel-type reactors.
- Testing of fuel, fuel assemblies, fuel rods, structural elements, and core components under realistic conditions
- Unique research opportunities due to the very high thermal neutron flux (up to 5x1014cm-2×s-1)
7 loop installations
